BOB CROW - OUR LEGEND REMEMBERED

Bob Crow was elected our General Secretary in February 2002

HE IS REMEMBERED AS THE GREATEST LEADER THIS UNION EVER HAD

When we lost Bob seven painful years ago on 11th March 2014 tributes from all over the globe flooded in... and rightfully so

BOB CROW UNITED OUR UNION AND MADE US STRONG - he helped ensure that any petty, puerile rivalry within our union was ditched. Even those who opposed Bob and criticised his radical militancy soon fell into line. Bob won respect everywhere he went through his straight talking and honesty. His strong principled leadership was inspirational.

BOB'S RMT - CAMPAIGNING, FIGHTING AND DEMOCRATIC

Bob was proud that our members run our union. He treated our National Executive Committee with respect. He followed the instructions from our members given to him through their elected National Executive Committee. No messing about. A workers' union run by the workers for the workers!

Bob was full of energy and ideas

He turned our union from decline to growth. Duly inspired by Bob - 5,000 offshore comrades from the OILC union merged with us because they trusted what Bob was leading.

The entire international trade union movement was inspired by Bob.

His vision of a properly organised trade union saw our number rise from 50,000 to 80,000 and Bob was certain we would reach 100,000. Sadly we lost Bob before his dream was realised.

Bob Crow was a friend, comrade leader and family man. We will keep Bob close to our hearts. A united, democratic and fighting RMT will continue to grow and get stronger in Bob's memory.

It was an absolute honour befriending Bob and being part of our union under his leadership.
